Sunday Dinner # 7 (Pinterest Mission #6)

This yummy meal was not actually prepared for a Sunday dinner. However, my opinion is, this General Tso’s chicken would be a welcomed change from our normal, heavy Sunday dinners. This recipe was found on Dinner Then Dessert.

Here’s my rendition of General Tso’s Chicken…I pretty much followed her recipe step by step. However, I used chicken breast meat and chili paste. It’s what I had in the house lol *shoulder shrug*

What You Will Need:

Jasmine Rice -I love the taste of this rice. Feel free to use whatever rice you would like.

Chicken
2 lb chicken breast
1/4 cup cornstarch
2 tbsp olive oil (cooking oil)
2 cloves garlic minced
1 tbsp ginger
1/2 tsp chili paste

Sauce
1/2 tsp chili paste
3 tbsp rice vinegar
2 tsp hoisin sauce
3 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp cornstarch
3 tbsp rice vinegar
3 tbsp sugar
1/4 cup water

*Prepare rice*

1. Clean and cut chicken breast into cube shaped. I cut the breast meat of of a bone in breast.

2. Toss chicken in 1/4 cup of cornstarch.

3. Add oil to pan. Allow to heat.

4. Place chicken into grease. Allow to cook until is fully cooked. (Consuming raw chicken is very bad for you…in the simplest terms hahahaha)

5. Flip chicken over to allow crisping on both sides.

6. Drain oil from chicken and set aside. (DO NOT DISCARD OIL FROM PAN)

7. Mix all ingredients under sauce into a bowl. Using a wisk worked well for me.

9. Add chili paste, ginger and garlic to oil from chicken.

10. Allow items above to cook (while stirring) for 3-5 minutes.

11. Put drained chicken back into pan.

12. Stir into ginger, chili paste and garlic.

13. Slowly add sauce to pan.

14. Stir chicken into sauce.

15. Allow to cook until sauce thickens.

16. Enjoy!
